Netstat Viewer is a handy GUI replacement for the command line application "netstat".

A nice little app, Magnus. Smiley Two ideas that you could add... Using different colours for different protocols, namely TCP and UDP. And an option for automatic refresh every X seconds.

It also lists 'ghost' ports (like those to and from 0.0.0.0), but then it is based on Netstat Grin TCPViewPro does something else with the info to narrow it down to actual P2P connections.

Other than that, good one! But I'd echo the colour key idea, plus if the 'listening' ports are going to be actively refreshed, perhaps a separate section of hte GUI for these, plus count-down/up clocks to/from next activity. Not sure what use that'll be...

What is the "select" (click on a line, then you can use the arrows or your mouse..) for? A Copy/Paste function is welcome Tongue.

Erh.. "Remote address" and "port".. the local is just fine, but .. khm.. is this doing anything? I mean it has no function at all: can't show anything (fe. i'm using my browser right now, but it can't tell me, that the other side is this server) = what's this 4 Huh.

Other question: these handy applications will be plug-ins for the TH (good idea) in the future or just freeware programs?

Yes. Netstat Viewer is a standalone program. It doesn't effect normal windows behaviour at all.

Netstat won't understand the '/autoclose' switch since it's an old MS-DOS program.

The easiest way to make the netstat screen stay open is to specify an interval (in seconds) to refresh the details. Instead of 'netstat' in the 'Run..' box, type
netstat 2
This will make netstat stay in memory and update it's dipsplay every 2 seconds. On this PC, I notice a brief flicker as the text scrolls, but mostly it looks like it's steady since not much changes unless I open up other apps that make new connections.

Any extra switches (like the -a one to make it show all connections and listening ports) should go before the number (i.e. 'netstat -a 2'). If you need to know more about the extra switches for netstat, open a DOS command prompt window (Start\Programs\MS-DOS Prompt) and type 'netstat /?'.

Thanks this works as you stated. The thing is I never had to do anything before. It just came up and I closed it when I wanted. What changed?
