ESET still barking at TH
« on: Jan 16th, 2009, 8:48pm »

But I restored it , two items, from Quarantine.

Just posting this so you know I made the attempt to use it again.

We'll see how it goes after a few days.
The scanner that is first installed may be the culprit.
It's been updated now so I'll check how it does on a manually ordered scan.

I'm tired of them not fixing this,
I'm just going to restore the image in Acronis and leave this application alone.

Okay.

You can run TrojanHunter without the thsec.dll.  In fact, if you download the latest posted Trial TrojanHunter from the link at the top of the forum, there is no thsec.dll in it.  It is not being called a new version by Magnus...it just has no thsec.dll in it.

If you want to:

1.  Download the latest TH from the link at the top of forum.

2.  Save off your License.tlf file

3.  Unload THGuard

4.  Uninstall TrojanHunter

5.  Reboot

6.  Do a search for the word "TrojanHunter" (without quotes) and delete all folders having the name TrojanHunter.

7.  Re-install the latest TrojanHunter and install your License.tlf file.

8.  Run LiveUpdate

9.  Set your settings again for THGuard and TrojanHunter Scanner.

I suspect Magnus is reworking thsec.dll during the work he is doing on the next version release of TH so that NOD32, McAfee and other AVs will stop pestering TH.   Wink

The little dog says he cannot find any files;
I used CCleaner to un-install and then ran Unlocker.exe
At re-boot it removed all remnants of TH in Program Files.
so I'm going to install the copy of TH 5.0 that i just got from the site.

Later,
BC

I wonder if there is some hidden place that ESET hides stuff even if has been uninstalled for a while.

This is strange.

My date time group is ok in Windows too.

Using Windows Explorer, navigate to C:\Program Files\TrojanHunter 5.0 and open the folder.  Is there a THSEC.dll in it.  If not, you are okay.

The 12/22/2008 is showing in the Time column of picture link you just PM'd me.

I did a total re-install of TH on my XP-SP3 and no THSEC.dll is included in the Trial download of TH.
