Help with Backdoor.Lixy Trojan

Two days ago, Norton Antivirus alerted me that my computer had the Backdoor.Lixy trojan.  Norton is not able to clean, delete or quarantine the trojan.

It is attached to C:\windows\system\serve.exe

I have tried to manually clean the trojan using instructions from the Symantec website.  Norton says to look for the Rlid.exe, Lid.exe, Lid.dll and ssocks5.dll files.  They are not there and neither is the registry key lines per the Symmetic Security Responce.

I downloaded Trojan Hunter and it says that my system is clean.  I manualy updated the files, and now it runs in about 15 seconds and says the system is clean.  Meanwhile, Norton still says the computer is infected.

Any suggestions?  Thanks.

Hi,

Try selecting only your hard drives for scanning and see if that helps you perform a full scan. Please also submit the file to submit@trojanhunter.com (attach it to an email and send it - you may have to disable NAV temporarily to do this). If you reboot your system into Safe Mode you should be able to delete the file, but I would appreciate it if you can submit the file before doing that.

Hi.  Thanks for the quick response.  I just sent you an e-mail with the serve.exe file.  Also, I scanned just the hard drive again with Trojan Hunter.  It took a few minutes this time but still came up clean.

Also, I'm running Windows XP.  I followed Symantec's Security responce and tried to End the Trojan process, but the file they tell you to loook for (Rlid.exe) is not there.

Thanks again for the help.
