Figures are those supplied by Panda AV, so you may see slightly different lists elsewhere. Bugbear.B was the malicious code that has affected most computers. This is the fifth time this virus has headed the Top Ten ranking of viruses most frequently detected. Last month's list also stood out for the number of viruses that exploit application vulnerabilities in order to spread. Bugbear.B - 6.16% of incidents, followed by Blaster (with 5.82%), Parite.B (5.58%), Gibe.C (4.25%) Klez.I (4.21%). The last five in the list were: Blaster.E, Blaster.C, Trj/PSW.Bubgbear.B, Sober.A Enerkaz. The most notable details in last month's ranking include: - This is the fifth time Bugbear.B, which first appeared in June 2003, has headed the Top Ten. - With six of the ten most virulent code exploiting flaws in widely used programs, it is clear that many users are yet to apply the security patches supplied by software vendors. - The fact that "Blaster" and its variants occupy second, sixth and seventh place. - With the exception of Sober.A, all the malicious code in the list also appeared in October's ranking. Klez.I (in fifth place, as was the case in October) is still one of the most frequently detected viruses, even though it first appeared back in April 2002.
