Downloader.Winshow.D?

Hi all,

I'm so glad to have found you...Has anyone heard of this trojan horse?  My anti-virus program says I have it, but cannot remove it. I have used two other anit-virus programs which don't find it.  Then I found Trojan Hunter. The first time I ran TH it found something it said it could not delete. Subsequent scans do not find anything.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

It could have been inside the system restore, and the restore point has since been deleted (it only holds so much).

Just a thought...

I have been infected by this little beast as well.

Only AVG Resident shield seems to find it in the protected and hidden folder C:\System Volume Information\{blah blah}\Ablahblah, yet when you run either AVG or Norton AV in the above folder they can't find anything.

It seems to affect IE by resetting your homepage to some search engine and my IE now hangs when I click on a link which would open a new window.

This is driving me nuts as I cannot find the Trojan in reference files either....

This is what is called a blended threat by Symantec, it is not a true trojan but is a downloader that has trojan like behavior. I suggest that you visit Computer Cops Forum Index -> Spyware - Hijack Related and read the Announcement and Stickies there before posting.
