Please help.  I realized today that there were a couple of mysterious file on my harddrive called TEMP$01.exe.  Incidentally, I also tried to defrag my pc today, but it kept starting over because something was writing to the drive.  I am running win98 and when I ran msconfig, there was that mysterious temp@01.exe.  When I unchecked it and restarted it was still checked when I ran msconfig again.  I did a little research and found some info on this being related, perhaps, to the banan? trojan.  I found TH, dloaded it, ran it, but it didn't find the file.  What can I do?  Any help would be appreciated.  Thx.

Sounds like this could just be a temporary file created by an application. Try shutting down all applications and see if you can delete it. Also feel free to e-mail the file to submit@trojanhunter.com (preferrably zipped) and I'll have a look at it.

How many files did Norton find that it said had a virus in them? There's no need to reformat your hard drive if you have a trojan, they can easily be removed. Just make sure to get a firewall such as ZoneAlarm until you have figured out exactly what Norton is reporting. If you have a virus that has infected your executable files, then it's best to let Norton clean it. If it's unable to do that then try getting a second opinion with something like Kaspersky Antivirus.

If you post the Norton log here, or e-mail it to support@trojanhunter.com I can give you further advice on what to do.
