Free Trojan Hunter isn't really 'free'

Hello,

I'm new here. I just downloaded the 30-day trial version of Trojan Hunter 5.0. I installed it but when I open it I get an evaluation notice that says: 'your evaluation period has ended'. But that's not possible because I just got it and I read everywhere that it's free for 30 days...Huh The evaluation notice gives me the following 3 options:

-Buy TrojanHunter now.
-Exit
-Install License File

Please help me!

Greetz,

Hi Dennis,

I have sent you an email with an evaluation license. This will enable you to try TrojanHunter for 30 days. Thank you for choosing to evaluate TrojanHunter!

Welcome to the forum Denx  Cheesy

Typically the Trial Version of TrojanHunter does not have LiveUpdate active.  Unless Magnus gave you a special license that enables LiveUpdate, you will need to manually update the detection rulesets.  New rulesets are issued daily.

The link below is for manually updating the rulesets.

And thanks for your support  Grin

It works great; it's very fast. The only thing that I don't like is that he doesn't finds trojans that AVG find... Undecided

Thanks for your feedback.  Two things to keep in mind:

1.  TrojanHunter is a supplement to, not a replacement for, your normal anti-virus.  For TrojanHunter, Magnus/Gavin focus on implementing detection rules that most normal av programs do not catch or are slow in implementing detection for.

2.  When trojans or other malware are detected in your system memory, it is often a "first to detect" situation.  The program that detects the item first in memory is the one that locks it and makes it undetectable by other security programs.  THGuard scans memory every 10 seconds for malicious items.  Typical av programs scan memory much more frequently.
