SiliconeMan, I am not sure what went wrong with the initial TH5 install, but I did reinstall it this morning. Had a few problems, but eventually got it fixed, methinks. Removed the old version, deleted folders in the C:\program directory, rebooted, and reinstalled with the license file. Upon the next reboot, TH Guard did not automatically load up in the system tray (had a big red x on the icon). Now, that was perplexing. Tried to perform a Live Update, and it started, and then shut down. I don't recall the error message, but then when I tried to run TH, it gave several error messages that I was missing a number of trf files. Seems like it ran for awhile downloading files, and then stopped before finishing. Comparing my list of downloaded trf files with what was on your website (for manual updates), I was missing about a dozen files. So....I manually updated the files in the Rulesets folder, and then performed a live update, and everything worked fine now. I also checked on the TreeState.dat file in the C:\Documents and Settings\"User Name"\Application Data\TrojanHunter folder, and it is there now. That is a good thing. Have rebooted the machine, performed live update to get today's ruleset update, and ran a check, and closed the application down, and all seems to be happy now. I must have done something different the first time, but I don't know what. on Dec 29th, 2007, 12:56am, siliconman01 wrote:Welcome to the forum Skipmcc |
| Thx. Have had TH for a number of years, just never had to post on the forum. Previous versions worked great, and I very much like the daily updates to the rulesets. It is a program I highly recommend to all. TH5 did flag a couple of files on my PC that previous versions did not. Fortunately I had not run them, so life is good. Again, thx.
