Right click scan not working

Hi all,
When I right click a folder/file to scan with the TH scanner, the GUI loads but no scanning takes place.  I'm just presented with 2 tabs: "Scan report" and "log" but both are blank pages.
 
If I go into options, the button says "Enable right click scanning" signalling it's disabled.  But, if I enable it and try right click scanning, the button changes back again to say "Enable right click scanning".
 
Any ideas?

What Windows OS are you running?
 
And is your version of TH V5.0.962?
 
When you right-click scan a folder, does "Objects scanned" state the number of files scanned?    For example, I just scanned a folder and "Objects scanned = 43"  when completed...43 files scanned.  If nothing malicious is found, nothing is reported in either the Scan report or the log tabs.  
 
Right click scanning cannot be disabled due to a bug in the program.  It is always enabled.  The fix is suppose to be in the next update of TH which is due out in early January 2008.

Windows XP Home Edition.  TH Build 962 (v5)
 
Nothing gets scanned and no 'objects scanned' dialog appears.  Just the same interface as if TH was opened in the start menu / desktop shortcut / TrojanHunter.exe

I've done some more testing.  It works intermittently, seems to be around 1 in 10 times it will actually work, but I can't work out what I'm doing differently when it does actually work...

In your C:\Program Files\TrojanHunter 5.0 folder, what is the size of contmenu.dll ?
 
It should be 398-400 kbytes.  Date Modified 8-Sept-07

A full re-install and making sure I deleted contmenu.dll after uninstalling TH seems to have fixed the problem.  Many thanks for pointing me in the right direction Siliconman  Cool

I always find it "safest" when installing a new version of TH to do the following.
 
1.  Open THGuard settings window and uncheck all the options.  Click on OK to save the changed option settings.
 
2.  Reboot computer
 
3.  Uninstall old version of TH.
 
4.  Reboot again.  This is to make sure contmenu.dll is out of the picture from the old version.
 
5.  Delete any TH folders left hanging from the uninstall.  Of course you want to be sure that you have your License.tlf saved away.
 
6.  Install the new version; install the license.
 
7.  Run LiveUpdate via the TH scanner GUI.
 
8.  Set the THGuard options.
 
9.  Set the Options and Scan items in TH scanner
 
10.  Reboot - just for old times sake.  Wink
 
Once the new version comes out in early January 2008, the above may be completely unnecessary...depending on how the new LiveUpdate works.
