Well so much for the theory thlc.exe is the culprit but manual scans with trojanhunter.exe are ok. I was actually able to get my hands on that file vzw.exe which thlc.exe created. (NOD32 had quarantied it before TH or NOD32 deleted it.) I took the file, renamed it, zipped it and saved it. Now if I go and try to run a manual TH scan on that saved, remaned, zipped file - NOD32 pops up the same virus warning. Yep running trojanhunter.exe against the file sends up a NOD32 warning too. After doing a forum search and google search I see this is actually not a new problem. But from those searches it seems rare for a customer to actually retain the file for analysis. Since I have just such a file, and since I have absolute faith in TH and Magnus, I would sure feel better if one of you TH tech folks could take a close look at this file. If truly malware, maybe you guys can be first at a new find. If not maybe this file I was lucky enough to keep might be useful to you experts in finding a fix to this pesky bug. Please let me know if this file would be helpful to you and what address I should email it to. I appreciate all your help. One other thing. Based on previous threads I should mention that MS Office is not even installed on this computer. No idea what file was being scanned by TH when vzw.exe was created.
