Error message upon Exit of Trojan Hunter

Hello,
 
I am running the latest build 962 of Trojan hunter 5 on Windows Vista 32 bit. I have noticed that very often when I have started up Trojan Hunter and finally exit it again, Trojan hunter closes and I get an Vista Error Popup window with Runtime Error 216 often followed by the message "Trojan Hunter does not work anymore and needs to be closed". This problem does not appear all the time and it does not matter whether I have started the program as administrator or not or whether I have closed the program via File --> Exit or with the red cross in the upper right corner.
 
Any ideas what can be the reason ?

Have you tried reinstalling TrojanHunter into a completely new folder?

Hello Magnus,
 
I just checked on the program folder and noticed that I still have the folder of the old version Trojan Hunter 4.7 there. The old program itself is no longer installed and when i look into the folder there are some rules files and the Quarantine Folder and the like. Could this have something to do wiht my problem ?
Other that that the new version 5.0 is in the Folder Trojan hunter 5.0 and i guess this is the way it is supposed to be. This is how the program installed itself and I did not change anything since the installation.

Am running TH on Vista Business (just for reference) and am not seeing any errors.
 
I recommend that you:
 
0.  Be sure your License.tlf is saved off for re-use
 
1.  Open THGuard to the Setting window and uncheck all the settings.  Click on OK to save and close the settings window.
 
2.  Reboot your computer.  THGuard's icon should not be in the notification tray.
 
3.  Uninstall TrojanHunter 5.0.
 
4.  Reboot again.
 
5.  Do a search for the word  TrojanHunter and delete all folders that are named TrojanHunter.  
 
6.  Then re-install TH V5.0.  
 
7.  Run LiveUpdate to obtain Build 962 and all other updates.
 
8.  Set up your desired options and scan parameters in TH and THG.
 
Perhaps something did not uninstall correctly in TH V4.7 when you first update to TH V5.0

Hello,
 
I followed the steps described in your mail carefully and re-installed Trojan Hunter. Unfortunately it makes no difference, I am still getting the same error when exiting the program.
Windows creates an Incident Error Report for every time Trojan Hunter crashes during Exit, would these Reports be helpful here to discover the root cause ?

Yes, send them into Magnus at support@misec.net.
 
Be sure to reference this post on the forum in the email so that Magnus has a little background.
 
When you "Exit" TH and get this error, is it after you have done a scan?
 
If so, do you click on "Close" and then the X in the upper right corner?

Just sent the mail with the information I was able to grab on my system. No, it is not linked to a scan, it is always when simply starting up the program window and finally closing it again.

Okay,  I'm confident the info that you sent Magnus will permit him to resolve the issue for your Vista system.
 
I'm assuming that you have applied all the various Windows Updates on your system.
