Run as Adminstrator error

Hello!
 
I just updated to the latest version of TH (5.0, build 962) and I'm having an issue with "run as administrator".  
 
I'm trying to schedule live update, and each time I get a "run as administrator to schedule" alert......but I AM running as an administrator. I also tried running TH as system administrator ("run as..."), but I get the same error. I am the only user of this machine. I checked permissions in properties>security and it seems that I have full ownership except for "special permissions" which is greyed out and I can't check the box, nor does trying to change in advanced work. Not sure if that has anything to do with it.
 
Can anyone advise on how to correct this? I also get an "Invalid argument to date code" error if I type in the time I want live update to run.

EDIT: one more thing....I am getting NO program updates via live upate, only definitions. I was still running 4.6 Sad. I didn't even know there was a new version until I saw it posted on another forum.

I *think* I "fixed" it. hmmm....I just kept trying, and it seems I finally got the live update time to stick without an error. But I still had to do it by running as system admin, never had to do that before.
 
Also, if anyone knows...in TH Guard, right click taskbar icon>settings, the time I set for live update setting no longer appears there....is that the way it's supposed to be now?

What Windows OS are you running?
 
When you open TH scanner and go to Help>About, is it showing that you are on TH V5.0 Build 962?
 
In V5.0, the Live Update time scheduler and also a new scheduler for a system scan is now in TH scanner GUI.  It is under the Schedule icon on the left menu bar of TH scanner.
 
Please remove any old TrojanHunter folders such as C:\Program Files\TrojanHunter 4.6.  This is somewhat sounding like you are running part of the new version and part of an older version.  
 
-  Did you fully remove V4.6 before you installed V5.0?  
 
-  Did you let V5.0 install in its default folder of C:\Program Files\TrojanHunter 5.0?

I'm running XP Pro.
 
Yes, I have 5.0, build 962, and I found the scheduler where you indicated. I uninstalled 4.6 before updating to 5.0 as per instructions. Input my reg/license code with no issue. 5.0 is installed in it's own default folder but there is still a 4.6 folder. In trying to delete it, it says "Cannot delete THsec.dll: access is denied, make sure disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not currently in use".
 
Maybe I should uninstall 5.0, then try to delete the 4.6 folder again, and reinstall 5.0 from scratch? I'd swear I deleted that 4.6 folder before installing 5.0. I even got my reg/license code from the email, not the old 4.6 folder. Maybe I'm hallucinating, lol....

Please do this:
 
1.  Right click on THGuard.exe and select the Settings window.
 
2.  Uncheck ALL the options for THGuard on the settings window.  Then click on OK to save the settings and close the settings window.
 
3.  Reboot your computer
 
4.  On reboot, THGuard's icon should NOT show up in the lower right systray.
 
5.  Using the Task Manager, make sure that THGuard.exe is not running in memory.
 
Now can you remove the C:\Program Files\TrojanHunter 4.6 folder?

1.  Go to START>PROGRAMS>TROJANHUNTER and activate THGuard.
 
2.  Right click on THGuard's icon in the lower right systray and open the Settings window.
NOTE:  The new THGuard does NOT have an option to schedule LiveUpdate.  This missing setting will confirm that you have the proper THGuard from V5.0.
 
3.  Select the settings you want for THGuard.  
 
4.  Click on OK to save the new settings and close the settings window.
 
You should be in business now.  Can you LiveUpdate okay now?
 
(I think you had THGuard from V4.6 running and this was causing your problem).

NOTE:  You can force LiveUpdate to rerun by doing the following:
 
Please try forcing a complete download of the updates (rulesets and program revisions)  
 
1.  Unload THGuard.exe from memory.  Be sure TrojanHunter scanner is closed down.  
 
2.  Using Windows Explorer, navigate to the RuleFiles folder at C:\Program Files\TrojanHunter 5.0\RuleFiles and open the folder.  
 
3.  Delete file  UpdateList.txt  
 
4.  Close Windows Explorer  
 
5.  Go to START>Programs>TrojanHunter and run LiveUpdate.  
 
LiveUpdate will download a complete RuleSets plus UnUpx.dll, THGuard.exe and TrojanHunter.exe  
 
6.  Restart THGuard.exe  
 
7.  TrojanHunter.exe (TH scanner GUI) should now be Build 962

Everythiing seems to be working now. Live update updated. Thanks for letting me know that the missing "settings" in TH Guard is no longer supposed to be there. Actually, I kind of miss that, it was convenient to check the time I had set, but oh well, no big deal.

In V5.0, LiveUpdate is scheduled via TH scanner (GUI).  It is under the Schedule icon on the left icon bar.  You can also schedule a full system scan.  These work through the system Task Scheduler.

I deleted the UpdateList.txt and updated from scratch, worked fine.
 
Obviously that pesky 4.6 folder was the problem.  
 
Love TH, Guard runs totally unobtrusively. I forget it's there unless I look for it.

BTW, you might find www.betanews.com helpful in keeping up with when New Versions of programs are released.  The "fileforum" section allows you to specify that you want to be emailed when specific programs (that you select/specify) are posted with a new version.  
 
I find it very helpful because of the rapidity in which programs are being updated and re-issued, particularly now that Vista has arrived.  Wink
