TH5 command line scanning

Hi Magnus and Gavin,

I have a question about scanning via the command line with TH5, but I have to admit that at the moment I haven't tried it yet (shame on me!).

Could it be that there is a little confusion between thcl.exe and TrojanHunter.exe ?

1.
From the announcement from Magnus:
http://www.misec.net/forum/board/TrojanHunter/1189327431

Quote:

The release also includes the TrojanHunter Command Line Scanner (thcl.exe), that can be used to scan for trojans from the command line, or from batch files. For a full list of new features and changes, see below.

2.
From the Help page:
http://www.misec.net/trojanhunter/help/?page=CommandLineParameters

Quote:

The command line parameters described below are useful to schedule scans using the Task Scheduler or to run certain scans when you boot your computer.
The following command line parameters can be used with the TrojanHunter scanner:

/SCANFILE file1 file2 ...

The files specified will be scanned. You can also specify drives or directories instead of files, and these will then be scanned recursively.
If you want to scan a directory without recursively scanning its sub-directories, prefix the directory name with a "+" character.

Example: TrojanHunter.exe /SCANFILE +C:\WINNT
This will scan the C:\WINNT directory, but not its sub-directories.

/QUICKSCAN
Performs a Quick Scan immediately after starting the scanner.
/AUTOCLOSE
Causes the scanner to automatically close if no trojans are found during a startup scan.

PS:
What is meant with "recursively scanning"? (oops, sorry, my bad English is failing me here).

Thanks !
Best regards, Jan.

Question posted a week ago, no reply.
It must have been the most stupid question asked here.
Bye.

Both TrojanHunter Scanner (TrojanHunter.exe) and THCL (thcl.exe) accept various command-line parameters. The difference is that THCL is designed to run in (for example) batch files or from the command prompt, without having to start up a GUI. So it's perfect if you want to schedule scanning from within a script or batch file. In fact, THCL is what TrojanHunter uses to perform scheduled scans.

I hope this clarifies things a bit. Let me know if you have any further questions.
