I am proud to announce the release of TrojanHunter 5.0. We've worked hard to make this the best TrojanHunter version ever. The scan engine has been substantially enhanced to handle new threats, and LiveUpdate can now upgrade the TrojanHunter program files. In addition, the user interface has been enhanced and there's now a scheduling option for the scanner and LiveUpdate available within the scanner.
 
The release also includes the TrojanHunter Command Line Scanner (thcl.exe), that can be used to scan for trojans from the command line, or from batch files. For a full list of new features and changes, see below.

How do I upgrade?
 
1. Uninstall your current version of TrojanHunter via Control Panel - Add or Remove Programs
 
2. Download the setup file from the link above
 
3. Run the setup file, and complete the installation  
 
4. If you are a licensed user, copy the License.tlf file from your old TrojanHunter folder to the TrojanHunter 5.0 folder. Alternatively, use your authorization code to install the license.

* Redesigned, polished user interface
 
* Schedule page allows scheduling of LiveUpdate and TrojanHunter scans
 
* LiveUpdate is able to perform program upgrades
 
* Optional automatic cleaning of trojans found during scheduled scans
 
* During a scheduled scan, TrojanHunter Scanner runs invisibly so as to not get in the user's way. If trojans are found, however, a message box alert is displayed, and optional automatic cleaning initiated. This happens even if no user is logged in to the computer when the scan is run.
 
* New file analyzer in engine ensures all files are scanned correctly according to content, no matter what extension they have
 
* TrojanHunter now scans inside RARSFX archives

I just installed it.
 
The info, when doing a scan (in Safe Mode), is different compared to version 4; I still have to get used to it.
 
The Help-file is not yet updated.
If I might make a wish: could it be possible that the Help-file is downloaded on the computer instead of available on the website?

the "TrojanHunter" page, in "products", does not reflect that the current version is "5"..
 
for the record, is it mandatory to update to build 5 from build 4.7? will the malware-databases work with both build 5 and with build 4.7?  
 
with TH 5.0, i think the "exit" button should have been left in the scanner's GUI..  
 
i did a scan with TH 5.0, but no "upx-packed files which could not be scanned" were logged.. i don't know if that is because the upx-packed files are being scanned now, or if they are not being scanned and they are not being logged.. with TH 4.7, i had about 8 upx-packed files which could not be scanned and were logged..  
 
the "autostart explorer" tool still will not run properly when the "task scheduler" service is disabled..  
 
also, in the frame with the "scan report", there is no scroll bar at the botton of the window, for scrolling left and right, so, in some cases, the scan results cannot be viewed fully..

also, you cannot adjust the frame that is used for the "scan report".. i used to slide it up, to allow for having more space for the scan results, but you cannot adjust it in TH 5.0, unlike with the previous versions..

I thought this was not a good idea, as it could cause redraw problems.. and was resizeable too much ! it could be resized up over the buttons for stop and clean. Maybe it can be put back..
 
At the moment we are testing the new scanner, its now properly multithreaded and MUCH more responsive. Even after a very long scan, it closes very fast ! you can do things while its scanning, and it will stay responsive Smiley

The rules will work fine with older TH versions, however you won't be able to get program updates via LiveUpdate, among other important detection coded right into the program itself.
 
We'll release this updated TrojanHunter.exe in the next few days, and TH5 users should really notice a difference! now that LiveUpdate is sorted for this, more can be fixed without any new 5.1 5.2 5.3 etc versions needing a new installer Smiley just test then release !

Hmmm... THG, LiveUpdate, TH scanner, THCL.exe are still showing up as "Unknown" in the utility program "Vista Manager"
 
But, yes, I can view the Digital Certificates per Properties.  I just gotta figure out how to make Vista Manager recognize them.  
 
MS Process Explorer V11.1 does verify the new Digital Signatures for the TH executables.

Great News, installed TH 5.
 
Getting problems though, when clicking on the "Enable Daily automatic LiveUpdate" radio button, I get an error message asking me to log in as Administrator, because access to the task scheduler is denied. It allows the button to be selected, but greys out the set time option. I am logged in as administrator.
 
Same for Scehduled scanning also.
 
Also, when I click on the schedule icon in the left menu bar, I get the following error pop up box:
 
"Invalid argument to date encode"
 
Any thoughts?
