guard setting

Hi!

Whenever I set shutdown protection, and the computer is restarted - the setting becomes unchecked again.

I also run regrun suite 3.1. It has a program called watchdog, but I noticed that the trojanhunter directory has a file with the same name. Could there be any conflicts between the two programs?

Hi,

What version of TrojanHunter are you running?

A conflict with another file named watchdog.exe seems extremely unlikely. There was a problem with the Guard in TrojanHunter 2.5/2.51 where the Shutdown Protection option would be disabled after a reboot.

Thanks for responding!

I am evaluating ver. 2.53 build 581.

I'm also using sygate personal firewall pro 5.0 - it's possible that the firewall or registry utility might be conflicting with the shutdown protection - I'll disable those programs and see if it makes a difference.

I de-activated those programs and norton AV - auto-protect, but still no shutdown protection after reboot. Sad

I'm running windows xp pro - if that helps.

What happens if you check the "Shutdown protection" box, unload TrojanHunter Guard and then start it again - does the problem occur? (I.e. is it remembering the setting correctly if you do that?)

It really should save the setting even if you don't shut it down manually. What could happen is that Windows forcibly closes TrojanHunter Guard when you restart your computer, and that could cause the setting to not be saved. However, if the setting is in place now then it should be working fine from now on.

Hi Lane, since I have been around a while and sure that Magnus will correct me if I am wrong, here is my answer to your question.  Shutdown Protection Alerts the User if any method is used to try to shutdown the TrojanHunter_Guard Program.
