TrojanHunter's settings

   Hello,
I have three very basic questions regarding TH's settings :
a)In TH Guard's settings the default of " automatically remove trojans" is to check or uncheck ? And what are the implications of each one ?
b) Also in THGuard's settings what's the difference between " shutdown protection " and "unload" ?
c) And in TH " Rules" the option " generate trojan port list " is exactly what I have presumed : To create a list of known trojan ports , for the users information ?
As you see very basic questions .
   Regards ,

See the other thread on this subject for an answer to your first question. Smiley

As for (b): The "shutdown protection" feature will, if enabled, immediately give you an alert if the Guard should be unexpectedly shut down. If this happens, you will be alerted to the fact, and given the option to restart the Guard. Shutdown protection has nothing to do with shutting down the Guard - this is done with the Unload button.

(c): Correct, "Generate Trojan Port List" uses the Port Rules to generate a HTML page that can be viewed in your browser. This HTML page contains a list of known trojan ports.

Hi Magnus,

On a related item, I've always run the Guard with shutdown protection, but now notice that it doesn't load on startup anymore, even though that option is enabled in the THG settings screen. When I shut down the PC, a (very) brief dialogue pops up with the shutdown protection message and 'Yes' / 'No' buttons - too quick to actually press any of them. This started with release 2.51, AFAIK, since I didn't notice it in the Beta versions. I can get around it with the usual clumsy method (by referring to THG in the startup folder Grin). Any ideas?

The Startup folder method would work if you're having problems. It sounds like this only occurs when you have Shutdown Protection enabled. I'll see if I can find the problem.

That's what I thought - maybe there's a way of detecting the system shutting down, rather than just the application itself, and handling that differently? Popping it in the startup folder is a brutal way of ensuring the app runs. On a few occasions, the shutdown problem hasn't occured (maybe the order of programs shutting down was different) and the PC tries to run two copies - it always seems to sort itself out, though, and after about 20 seconds, the 'spare' tray icon vanishes, leaving just one...
