It looks like my predicition of taking until next summer to pass the next milestone was a tad out - it only took me 4 months...

Anyway, now I'm a 'Veteran', I presume that'll mean I'll suffer being ignored by my Government for my efforts in the field. I look forward to the day when the more verbose of you join me on the Rememberance Day parade...

I notice that no one has replied to this post yet. I suppose this is because if they do you'll reply and get even closer to the next milestone! What comes next anyway Pensioner?!

Well, a while back there was some thought about the rumoured 'Methusela' class, for those who've been around sooooooooo long they could post a couple of thou messages...

I don't think YaBB has any further categories (thank goodness), so everyone ends up a Veteran in the end (just like life, eh? Grin)

'Methusela Class' - wasn't that a freighter in the Trekker universe?

Anyway - there isn't a toothless-grin, dentures-out-for-the-night smiley -  Grin

Don't worry Ian, I promise to personally hack the YaBB code to add a new class once you're up to about 900 posts.  Grin

Heh - or you could replace the five stars with a nice bottle of VSOP (tangential link there, for all the drinkers....). Or maybe a comfy pair of bedroom slippers, or a cup of Ovaltine and a packet of Nice biscuits?

Or a bottle of sleeping tablets and a walking stick... Grin

So what would be the best title for the 'next' level? Odds are out for the winner, but favourites at the moment include 'Grumpy' and 'Forgetful' - the rest of the dwarfs didn't want to play.

For some reason, reason this thread has the sound of Eric Idle's dulcet tones filling my head. Perhaps "Meldrew" would be a good title for the next level?  Grin

"I don't believe it!" you mean 'One foot in the grave' made it all the way to NZ?

Or were you thinking of one of his other ditties, especially the last chorus?

It came, it was seen, it conquered.
Not that "Always look on the Bright Side" isn't a true classic in its own right, of course. Cheesy

My favourite Meldrew moments:- First, stuck in the traffic jam on the way to wherever (they'd been there so long, they forgot where); Second, the Citroen 2CV dumped overnight in the skip he'd hired for garden rubbish; Third, when he picked up the small dog instead of the phone... But, there are too many more to mention Grin Grin Grin! Erm, that last one was very funny - I guess it's a 'had to be there' kind of thing...

 Grin Some of the songs on 'The Meaning of Life' are also very, very funny - especially if you're not a Catholic... And the 'Universe' song is up there with the best of them (especially whimsical since in the film it follows the 'live organ donor card' sketch - "Well, I warned him not to carry one").

{Quick note to all those who wonder what that sketch might mean - 'Meaning of Life' was filmed at a stage when Monty Python was going through a sublimely funny, but brutal, phase of humour - it is as bloody as the sketch title sounds. But totally funny and justified in the broader scope of the movie. Oh, BTW... avoid the salmon mousse!}

Edited because I realised I'd used 'doner', as in 'kebab' - which somehow went with the mood of the sketch, but I thought I'd better get the spelling right...
