I bet it won't be us that develops it to commercial use... again. Computers, PKI (though the CGHQ version wasn't actually 'public' until many years after RSI got out their version), soccer (except the bit about vastly overpaying the players - we pinched that from Italy),  jet engines (even the Bell X-1 was a clone of a British prototype shown as part of the post-war exchange of ideas - except ours was jet not rocket). Too many things passed on to greater glory Sad

Nice link, Claire.

I've just been at school until 9.30pm (got there at 7.50am). Not only do we get less and less money each year (relavtive), we have to do our own 'marketing' to the 'consumers' - in other words, we had an Open Evening and smiled at loads of parents as they wandered - lost, for most of the time - around our maze of rooms.

On top of that, I ate something dodgy and had a bit of a talk to God on the big white telephone, but the boss said I had to stay and show people around since I was one of only two ICT people there, and no-one else could say things like 'we have around 310 PCs in school' and 'yes, they all access the Internet'. Sheesh. So I stayed, and hooked up a PS2 to our surround sound system and LCD projector and went pod-racing, and had a few scrapes on Blade 2. Very educational...

Pessimistic isn't quite the right word... Grin Still, dropping in here helps me to settle down.

Oh, BTW, good evening to you as well!
