Access to TH Guard denied; can't update

Apologies if this has been answered before, but I'm a bit concerned: for a few days now, I've been unable to update TH, and have been getting an error message to say access is denied, The other day, TH (I think it was TH) announced a keystroke logger had been found and would be quarantined; I've just been trying some of the fixes in the TH forums, and PC Tools Threatfire has announced that "THGuard.exe is attempting to manipulate, modify or tamper with another program on your computer" - I was given the options of Ignore or Quarantine, so chose the latter; now if I try to start up TH Guard, it can't be found. I did briefly see a box (the one where settings for TH guard can be changed), and it suggested the program was unlicensed - but do have a license. I don't know where to go now - I've scanned with AVG AntiMalware (paid version), Spybot, AdAware and SuperAntiSpyware, and nothing other than cookies has been found. I'm running Windows XP SP2 (build 2600), fully patched as far as I know. Sorry if that's a bit hard to follow... Thanks for any help you can offer.
