Sorry for the delayed response angelicmind. I inadvertently overlooked your post....not intentional. Question 1: Yes, it will update automatically once per day at a time you specify. The setup for this is in TrojanHunter scanner under the "Schedule" icon on the left icon bar. It uses the system Task Scheduler for this by setting up a scheduled task entry for TrojanHunter LiveUpdate in the Task Scheduler. You can also manually run LiveUpdate at any time. Gavin/Magnus typically issue updates daily between 10:00 p.m. and 6 a.m. (Eastern Time-USA). Frequently there are 2-4 updates during this time period. Question 2: I'm not sure I fully understand what you are asking on this question when you say "if I download a file, will TH delete the file automatically". TrojanHunter incorporates protection for many different types of malware....trojans, worms, rootkits, keyloggers, adware, etc. It does NOT however, have a virus detection engine so viruses are not scanned for. Its primary focus is "trojans". If you download a file from the Internet, it is good practice to use "right click scanning" to scan the file with TrojanHunter before you install the downloaded program (or whatever). Just right click on the downloaded file and select "scan with TrojanHunter". THGuard is constantly monitoring the programs running in memory. It polls memory every 10 seconds looking for any malicious content/activity. Question 3: There is no security program that detects/deletes ALL trojans that one can encounter on the internet. Gavin and Magnus focus heavily on detection of malware that many other security programs are not detecting. TrojanHunter is to augment the protection of your system. It is not designed to replace your anti-virus program or internet security suite. Question 4: "Protect against unauthorized shutdowns" in THGuard is to protect THGuard itself from being shutdown by criminal programs. It only prevents THGuard from being maliciously shutdown.
