Trojan Guard brings computer to its knees

Using Trojan Guard on Win2k SP4 (fully patched) P///-550 and I have to disable the automatic loading of T Guard because it is using up to 100% of the CPU as shown in the task manager performance window.

Trojan Hunter is fully updated.

Does this occur if you uncheck the "Protect against unauthorized shutdown" option in THGuard?

Some users have had to do this because of some type of conflict in their software with THGuard.

Please post as to what other security software you are running with THGuard.  Also are you using the Nvidia Desktop Manager?  This is a known problem with TH.

Hmmm... Have you tried to determine if there is a loading conflict between THGuard and some other program that starts up on reboot?  In other words, use msconfig-Startup tab and selectively disable programs that start up on a reboot.  If you can pinpoint which startup program is causing THGuard to bog on reboot, then Magnus can determine where the problem resides.

Looks like the problem may have been remanents of Symantec Anti-virus which were running as a service. Once there were not running the right mouse click on Trojan Guard functioned normally and the CPU usage dropped to normal levels. Thanks.
