Hi, Im using an on demand anti-virus and spyware scanner along with zone alarm firewall. Lately Ive been getting tired of the new version constant pop ups so I was wondering if I replace zone alarm with THG would i still be safe?

I have a router as well so to me if THG can protect against trojans, keyloggers, rootkits I dont see any reason to have a software firewall with a hardware one.

edit: one of the primary reasons i would rather use thg instead of zone alarm or both together is that I dont have a clue whether i should click yes or no to all the pop ups that say high alert. Combined with THG and nod32's internet download scanner I really think having zone alarm might be pointless.

Welcome to the forum newbie,  Wink

I have never heard of anyone replacing a software firewall with TrojanHunter...two completely different program types.  Personally I would never run without a bonafide software firewall.

I suggest that you jump over to the DSLREPORTS forum and get some assistance in reducing the ZoneAlarm popups.

A software firewall controls outbound programs basically so if I have a resident av and anti-trojan then what do i need a firewall for? I have a router that protects me as well.

If you are not concerned about outbound traffic on your arrangement with the router, then the "need" for a third party software firewall diminishes, yes.  I would certainly set the Windows Firewall active if you remove your other firewall.
