Keep in mind that THGuard nor TH Scanner delete files from your system. They rename and neutralize the file by adding a .tcf extension to the original name. So you never "loose" a file. All it takes to recover from a False Positive is to remove the .tcf extension from the file and you are back in business. False positives can and do occur with any of this type of security program. This is why quarantine retrieval mechanisms are provided. Gavin works hard to not generate any false positives during the ruleset creations...as do all the analyst for other security programs. However, they can and do occur because of the thousands of hardware/software combinations that are active in the world. In my honest opinion, the risk of damage from a malicious element getting into the system far outweighs the inconvenience of having to remove a .tcf extension should I get hit with an FP.
