THGuard/EWIDO Conflict

i installed the "new" TH 4.5 build 920.. THGuard still will not work, will not flag the "trojansimulater" with ewido guard running..

if i close THGuard and then restart it, then it works, it will flag "tsserv.exe"..

this was not a problem before, with TH 4.2, at least, not to my knowledge..

i hope that misec will look into this to try to determine what the problem is, why THGuard will not function properly when ewido guard is running..

everything else on my computer works fine except for THGuard..

As previously stated, I am not able to get THG to fail the simulator test.

One thing that is a bit confusing on this test, however, is that once you run the simulator test, you have to Uninstall TrojanSimulator successfully before running the next test.  Here's the sequence that I am using.

1.  Start TrojanSimulator
2.  Allow Ewido alert on the Simulator itself.
3.  The simulator window opens.
4.  Click on Install
5.  Allow the Ewido Alert
6.  THG alerts that it has removed TSServ.  Confirm.
7.  Clicking on the Uninstall does not uninstall at this point.  Click on Exit to close the simulator.
8.  Remove the .tcf extension from TSServ.exe.tcf
9.  Start TS again.
10.  Allow the Ewido Alert.
11.  The simulator window opens.
12.  Click on Uninstall
13.  The simulator issues a message that it has successfully uninstalled.
14.  Exit the Simulator.
15.  Restart the Simulator
16.  Allow the Ewido alert.
17.  The simulator window opens.
18.  Click on Install
19.  THG alerts that it has removed TSS.  Confirm.
20.  Repeat 7-18.

This works for me every time.  If you don't get the successfully uninstalled message from the Simulator window, the test is not going to run correctly the next time.

No offense redwolfe but why is it only misec's problem?  Clearly ewido guard is interfering with TH Guard on your system ..

Yep not our problem really..

Why can't you just add it to Ewido's ignore ? then you should get no inteference from it and see that TH detects it..

considering that THGuard is not working for me when it is run along with ewido, that is what makes me think that it is a problem with THGuard: THGuard is not working.. if i close THGuard and then reopen it, then it works..

siliconman says that he does not experience the same problem, running THGuard and ewido together, so it is not that the two cannot be run together.. maybe siliconman has programs that are slowing everything down on his computer so that then THGuard loads properly, while, in my case, it won't, and maybe there is a problem with THGuard that can be fixed so that then it will load properly for me, too..

i ran THGuard and ewido together for almost a year without any problems..until TH 4.5.. and, according to ewido, there is no conflict between ewido and "trojanhunter", but that was before TH 4.5..

let magnus look into it..

the reason that i kept bringing up this issue was because i was thinking that it would prompt others to test THGuard on their computer, and then, if i was not the only one having a problem, misec would look into fixing it (if there was a problem with THGuard)..

it turned out that the problem was being caused by my having too may security programs running in "realtime", together..

the problem, the "conflict", was a limitation within windows, itself, which was explained to me by kevin mcaleavey, at "PSC"..

i should have figured that out myself, except that i was not seeing a conflict other that thguard's not flagging the "trojansimulator"..

here is what i had running in realtime:

kerio 2.15
processguard 3.15
regdefend
etrust ez antivirus
ewido-guard
a-squared-guard
trojanhunter-guard

now that i am aware of the conflict, i will not be running all of those programs together in realtime...
