2 quick questions after upgrade

Hello,

I just removed version 4.2. Per the instruction link, I also removed the folder for 4.2 and the folders for 4.0 and 4.1 as well.
I rebooted and installed 4.5 with no issues. I do not use TH guard because I use webroot Spy Sweeper and it is active at all times and I do not want a conflict. Therefore, I have unchecked the load at startup box in THguard.
Here atr my questions: Even though I unchecked the load at startup box in THguard, the enable box is still checked. What state should the enable box be in generally? Keep in mind that I do not as a rule run THguard.

My other question is with scheduling updates in windows xp task manager.

I removed both the live update and the scan scheduled tasks when the updates no longer worked in version 4.2

Are the instructions for setting up the live upodate and scan jobs the same in version 4.5. ?

If so, can you point me to the link to the instructions again?

Thank you very much

First, moved your post only because the FAQ section is not really set up for general posting by users...just for procedures, etc., provided for all users.  No problemo  Wink

The Enable option can be left active.  It means that anytime you do load THGuard in memory it will start its work immediately.

Using Spy Sweeper as a trojan guard is really not very safe.  Spy Sweeper is a spyware/adware monitor.  It does not have sufficient rules to adequately guard you against trojans.  It is weak in this area.  I use Spy Sweeper too, but only for my spyware/adware guarding.  Please evaluate the above statement and considering using THGuard as your real-time trojan guard.  TrojanHunter's primary focus is trojans.  Other malicious element detections are being added rapidly by Gavin, but it is not yet at the strength of Spy Sweeper for spyware/adware.

Here are the links in the FAQs for scheduling using the Task Scheduler.

Holler if you can't get these to work on your system.  They work...so it will be a minor setup problem.

Thank you for the info,

So you are saying that you leave spysweeper and TH guard active at all times with no conflicts? If you are doing that, I will try so myself. I also use AVG professional. Do you have any experience with all 3 products together?

Thank you

There is no conflict between Spy Sweeper, THGuard, and AVG.

I run Spy Sweeper, THGuard and Norton Internet Security 2006... Real time.

HOWEVER-  I just downloaded the latest RuleSet for TrojanHunter and it has a false positive in it that causes THGuard to kick out of memory the Language.dll used by Spy Sweeper.  It detects this DLL falsely as TrojanSpy.Bank.879.

I've emailed Gavin about it, but it may be a few hours before he gets this False Positive fixed because of time differences to Australia.

Just kidding for sure  Cheesy

I am going to leave TH guard off until the update is complete.

Would you be able to let me know when to downlaod via another response?

Thank you

Welll... a false positive is not a program conflict.  Wink  Even Spy Sweeper, AVG, and Norton have false positives every now and then.   Grin

Yes, I'll post when the FP gets fixed.

THGuard or the TH Scanner does NOT remove files that it detects as malicious.  It renames them by adding a .tcf extension.  For example, in this false positive, THGuard is kicking the DLL out of memory and it also renames it from Language.dll to Language.dll.tcf

All a user has to do is remove the .tcf extension and the file is back in business.

I just downloaded the new update and it still gives the TrojanSpy.Banker.879 False positive.
