Welcome to the forum Jules   Cheesy

Reboot into SAFE MODE and first run TH scanner and let it remove trojans that it finds.  Then run AVG and let it remove what it can.  Then run AdAware and let it remove what it can.

Reboot back into normal mode and run scans again.

Please post back with what version of Windows OS you are running and if you have fully updated Windows; whether you are running TH V4.2, Build 908 with the latest definitions; what version of AVG you are running and whether its definitions are fully updated.  And finally please provide the names of the trojans that cannot be deleted once you reboot back into normal mode.

Also, if any of these trojans are found in the C:\System Volume Information folder, you will need to turn off System Restore and reboot your computer to get rid of them.  Then turn System Restore back on.

The on/off option for System Restore is found in

START-SETTINGS-CONTROL PANEL-SYSTEM-SYSTEM RESTORE tab  (for Windows XP)

To reboot into SAFE MODE.

As soon as your system starts to reboot, begin repeatedly tapping the F8 key.  A window (normally the second window as the reboot begins) will appear that permits you to select SAFE MODE.  Use the up arrow on your keyboard to highlight SAFE MODE and then press the Enter key.

You really need to get a good antivirus program installed and keep the definitions up-to-date very frequently.  The free AVG is used by many users and is okay...but it needs to be kept up-to-date.

After you complete the SAFE MODE scans, please come back with your results and we'll try to go on from there.  You have some bad infections on your system.

Hello Jules,

First of all, I would immediately remove SpySheriff.  It is considered rogue software.  Security expert Eric Howes says this about SpySheriff:

"aggressive advertising, reported stealth-installs (1); false positives work as goad to purchase; inadequate scan reporting; same app as SpyDemolisher & SpywareNo [A: 6-1-05 / U: 6-1-05]"

It is recommended that you read the following web site concerning rogue spyware software and only use spyware software that is not considered rogue.

http://www.spywarewarrior.com/rogue_anti-spyware.htm

Please list the security software that you have on your system other than AVG and TrojanHunter.  Once we know what tools you are using to help protect your system, we can develop a platform that will more efficiently help protect you.

I first recommend that you download and install the trial version of SpySweeper which can be obtained from:

http://www.webroot.com/consumer/products/spysweeper/index.html

After you get it installed, run a full scan of your computer system and let it clean out what it finds.

If you need help setting up the options in Spy Sweeper, just post back here and we'll provide guidance.

Good morning Jules,

So your system is clean of all spyware, trojans, viruses, etc. ?

Is SpySheriff still on your computer?

Are you using Windows XP?

It sounds like you need much more protection if SpySheriff can download and install by itself.  We can help you on this if you wish.  Some very good protection programs are free, others are not.  We can assist you with recommendations on both.

Glad to hear you are cleaned up.

Kazaa is notorious for spyware/adware and malicious download problems.  However, Kazaa Lite is considered to be safe to use.  You may wish to remove regular Kazaa and install Kazaa Lite.  Here's a place to download Kazaa Lite 2.7

http://www.soft32.com/download_121983.html

Also you should ensure that all your updates are installed for Windows by downloading from the Windows Update site.

Have fun.
