Hi,
I see that others forums(or fora) like Wilder's,Becky's,Lavasoft
etc are going international.Would'nt it be useful to announce
to people that they are allowed to post in other languages like
French,Spanish,Portuguese,German etc.I am sure that a lot of our members speak several foreign languages. This would enlarge our member's circle(and customer's circle for TH   Wink )
I think mainly to Frenchies who are generally "allergics" to any
other language. Grin

What's everyone's opinion on this? Would you like to see international support boards here? I'm thinking a French and a German one might be appropriate as a trial.

In a first stage I was thinking of a sentence placed in the upper part of the Forum's homepage like"Bienvenue sur le Forum de Trojan Hunter.Vous pouvez poser vos questions en français"and"Herzlich Willkomen auf das Trojan Hunter Forum.
Sie dürfen Ihren Fragen auf Deutsch stellen".A little bit like
Becky's news at Becky's Forum. So Magnus and Patrick could
easily see before setting up international forums if there is a sufficient demand. Without this sentence a lot of people will hesitate to post in a foreign language. If Magnus decides to give a try to this idea I'll"spread the good word" on a few
french fora Smiley

Give it a go, Magnus. I think, since it's a European program, it would definitely be appreciated. Maybe you can co-opt Claire as 'International Forum Moderator' (school-work permitting, eh?). I think there's a slight risk of topic duplication, and unless someone can check things out across the whole board there's a risk of calls for help going largely unanswered even though someone who can't understand the question may have the answer to the problem already. Or where you planning on a translation service to cross-post all threads in three languages? http://babelfish.altavista.com/ seems to do a better job than the one used by our favourite French-language poster's science website ( Wink Grin)

Maybe more of a team approach is needed, so native language speakers can pass on something to others who may know?

Still, like Claire says, you need to find out how popular this might be.

School work and limited knowledge don't permit it. Wink
But I'll be ready for any help needed for translation.I don't think that "automatic translation features" give good results
but I haven't try the one prefered by Ian. Smiley
So members who speak foreign languages will have to give a
hand(brush up your French Ian Grin)

Mon francais est seulement un peu minuscule moins que parfait (which is a lie, BTW, as that sentence proves), aber mein Deutsch ist nicht so gut. Much beyond 'Two large beers please' in several more languages (essential language skill for the modern European) and I'd have to call it quits and reach for the old methods (Comment les anglais se font-ils compris aux etrangers? Ils parlent anglais plus fort ... avec beaucoup des gestes comme la mode d'une idiote). You get the idea...

That translation page is very versatile, since it offers a wide range of languages, and benefits from being able to return something very close to the original phrase if it's 'retranslated' back again - not exact, but at least recognisable and fairly intact in meaning.

Alright, I've added German and Swedish support boards. Unfortunately, my French is not up to par, so unless someone with a good knowledge of the language volunteers to moderate I can't do much about it right now.

Computers; yes - languages; still in the novice-to-competent range. I can just about follow the messages on the Deutscher support forum, but actually replying is another matter (finding and remembering the right keycodes for the 'ß' and all those dotty bits is also not easy - I mean, knowledgeable readers might get narked if I always typed 'straße' as 'strasse', for example).

Just as you might miss the finer meanings in some obscure English phrase, I'd probably completely goof it up en francais also. Teamwork's the answer - a native language speaker to 'field' the questions and a few useful sorts with whom the solutions can be discussed. I suspect the IM service could be useful there Wink)

I hope the new International section is well-used - it's a good addition.

He-he, poor Hungarians Grin... Anyway, i don't see the point why to create a Hungarian board Tongue. At first, i'm waiting for a possibility to translate parts of TH, maybe then.. (takes lot's of time  Wink Cheesy Grin).

off
Paying on WWW (i know, other board..):
Here, in Hungary, most of the people are afraid of the Internet security: thanks to many script kiddies (many, yes, there's a lot of wannabe with pages: nuke programs, war dialers, usual trojan collections, ecw. downloads.. it's a luck that they haven't a clue what most of the programs are good for Tongue), hacks (no year without a deface. In an exercise, students had to break in into one of Hungary's most famous bank/note: to it's system in intranet/: N' they could within an hour), ecw.
They really don't want to pay over the Internet: by the way, they are ok with "manual" Banks.
The real problem: they don't know "why" and from "what". So they from "everything" and for "whatever" reason Tongue.
