YaBB censored words - what's the oddest?

Okay, so YaBB allows a 'Censored Words' list, which isn't in itself a bad thing. However, as some of those who have seen other threads, it can be a little unusual in it's choice of what to alter. Follow the link to YaBB and have a look at the online documentation concerning setting up a board and the options allowed. There are even a few 'new' message code-tags to try Cheesy

Any naughty word seems to be replaced by 'thingy', although some posters report asterisks. The oddest replacement I've experienced was for the word s-p-o-o-n, which became 'sthingy'. Presumably the word 'p-o-o-n' is bad language somewhere in the world Grin spoon spoon spoon - see, still does it! And it doesn't 'correct' things until the message is posted to the board - preview the post and it still is as typed, modify a post and back pop the original words.

What else has it replaced (let's stick to non-purile words, eh?) for you lot?

And is there a way of stopping it from chopping bits of words that happen to spell the same way as a banned word?

Hi Ian,

I think the YaBB developers might have been a little overzealous with that feature. Everything should be taken care of now, though. Go ahead and post as many spoons as you like  Smiley

Hooray!

At what is more, I see the old posts are now corrected... that's going to make some of my 'follow-on' posts seem a little odd - but hey, I guess some things will never change!

Is tere any chance of seeing the list, so that we know which words are likely to be problematic?

Where? I went to the Documentation page and couldn't find any of these 'new' code-tags. Do tell, please. Smiley

See? You're the first to use the 'Marquee' tag, which is what the browser translates the YaBBC 'move' tag into.
