I downloaded an installed the new version at 12:30pm yesterday. The only downfall I see so far is a slow down with multiple tabs being open. Seems like everything takes another few seconds to initialize, but once you're surfing around, it's quite fast (faster than IE7 for sure).

Side notes: I did not have to uninstall McAfee SiteAdvisor or scale back any IE protection settings with Spybot S&D. I am using the InPrivate mode (ctrl+shift+p) and have it setup to automatically block content. And since the Inprivate mode prevents IE from storing data about your browsing session, including cookies, temp files, history and other data, your sign-in seal cannot be saved when using Yahoo Mail. You will have to set that up in non-Inprivate mode.

*Edit* I just noticed that IE8 uses two iexplore.exe's to run. Is this normal for IE8? While I am editing this post, one is using 18MB RAM and the other is using 39MB RAM.*

Anyone else install IE8? Your thoughts on it?

This is normal in IE8. You will have one process for IE8 itself, then another process for each tab opened in IE8. This is part of the built-in tab recovery feature in IE8 so that if one tab crashes in IE8, it's not suppose to crash all of IE8 and allow you to still use IE8 and the other opened tabs.

On further use/learning of IE8, the above option is not needed for the TH website.  Plus, the Compatibility View being turned on for all websites significantly slows down IE8 rendering of webpages.

Number of Restricted Sites Slows IE8 loading
« Reply #5 on: Mar 30th, 2009, 6:18am »
Quote Quote  Modify Modify

If you have a very large number of Restricted Sites in IE8, it significantly slows down the opening of IE8 as it loads into memory.  For example, if you use SpywareBlaster and have its 4800+ restricted sites protection active, IE8 loads slowly.  This is a confirmed problem with no published solution by Microsoft.

Control Panel>Internet Options>Security tab>Restricted Sites>Sites button.

IE8-  A little trick concerning Compatibility View.

I've run into some websites that cause IE8 to abort when the website attempts to load.  This is most likely something improperly coded on the website itself.  Obviously, IE8 should not abort, but it does.

You may be able to "fix" this problem by doing the following:

1.  Add the website URL to the Restricted Sites of IE8.

2.  IF the URL will now open with IE8 not aborting, proceed to step 3.  Otherwise this little trick will not resolve the issue and you should remove the site from Restricted Sites.

3.  Add the website URL to Compatibility View by clicking on the "broken page" icon next to the URL bar.

4.  Remove the website URL from Restricted Sites.

The website should now open okay without causing IE8 to abort.

Best to contact Microsoft concerning IE8 aborts.  There is an "Online Support" under the IE8 Help button.

The only problem I have experienced is the one I explained in my post just above yours.
