Million-PC botnet threatens consumers
 
"Cyber criminals are assembling the biggest botnet for over two years – already close to a million PCs – online security experts have told vnunet.com.  
 
No one knows yet exactly what nefarious activity the army of captive PCs will be used for. But the chances are it will be a massive onslaught of phishing aimed at defrauding web consumers in the run up to Christmas."

Well I trust that if the 'online security experts' know all about this botnet they are not just going to sit back and marvel at it's size - you would hope they would be doing something proactive about prevention.
 
That would be like lifeguards spotting a huge man-eating shark cruising the water just off a crowded beach and just turning to each other and saying 'wow look at the size of that!' without bothering to tell people to get out of the water!
