Heh! You mean the site or the brief pop-up picture ... ?

Of course it's the site!

This kind of buffer-overflow exploit was on the cards, as it is for any remote access service. It also highlights the problem of sending plain-text messages (which wouldn't be so bad if didn't include the 'personal' details of the client PC). Maybe there's a technical reason why they couldn't use HTTPS instead? Unless they expect the bulk of their clients to be old back-room PCs that aren't running SSL-enabled software...

Hi Ian

Aren't most PC users SSL enabled?

Most recent stuff is (Win95 and on), but I could imagine someone somewhere setting an old-spec PC up with maybe a limited Linux kernel and a text-based browser, or OS/2, or even DOS, and just letting it run - maybe it's a stereotype, but there'll be some SETI@home users out there who'll be into 24/7 'search and submit' kit. SSL may not be installed on every PC, but you're right - it's on most - maybe in excess of 95%. Which makes me wonder why they chose plain-text transmits?

Anyway, since it's a technically interesting project, it seems a shame that it's targetted (but then again, if someone puts a door in a wall, some of the passers-by will try it Cheesy).

BTW, that picture - Susan Ward, actress and model - http://www.lovesusanward.com/ About the only thing I've seen her in is 'Shallow Hal'...
