Mark. Thanks for the info. I’m certainly glad I’ve never tried using “Earthlink”. A horror story with no easy way back.
 
Certainly better anti-popup programs are available and with firewalls now offering popup protection, their should be less reason for people to install rubbish like this.

you're welcome, for sure.  quite an alarming article, i think you agree.  good to get the word out on situations like this... really pays to increase one's awareness.
 
i became involved in a discussion yesterday about microsoft "critical updates", and the fact that so many of them don't even pertain to the user's machine...  
 
yet there they are, listed as critical.  
 
and lots of folks just download and install the updates because they read that ms has referred to them as critical, when in fact they may not even have the app that is being patched running on their machine!
 
now that's critical!
