Problem removing adware 180search

I have a problem with 180search.assistant on my computer.
It may possibly be located in the registry. Zone Alarm Pro 7.0
detects and removes it, only to have it reappear later. I tried
the Symantec Removal tool, but it doesn't even detect it! I
considered using System Restore, but I would have to use a
restore point from a week or more ago, and updating would
be a real hassle, if I can avoid it. Apparently, 180search is
well known in the cyber world as the product of 180 solutions
and is a particularly difficult piece of adware to remove. I would appreciate learning of any possible solutions you folks in the TH community might have. Huh

Thanks for the info. I'm working away at this, one step at a time.  It's hard going and very stressful. I've downloaded HiJackThis and WinZip so far. More later... Undecided
