image saving in internet explorer

ok i need help and dont know where to go on my i.e. pictures will load with a little icon 2 days ago it was not like that and when i save a pic from the internet usually its save as a jpep or whatever it is now only option is as a bitmap and and its name is untitled instead of the name it is on the site any help would be apreaiciated

An icon displays instead of the picture? If that's what you mean then IE didn't load the image for whatever reason.
 
There are two methods you can use to download an image. I think if you right-click on the image and do the "Save Picture As" it is going to do it as a bitmap or .gif depending on how the image is being displayed.
 
If you do "Save Target As" it will save the actual file instead of what is being displayed in your browser.
