This is just a general question to which I'd appreciate an answer. I have read that your webcam can work for more than just you - meaning someone else could intercept it? Is that really possible? And if so what preventions can I take to protect myself from such a vile act? Is there a way to know if my webcam has been intercepted? There should be a trojan involved am I right? Perhaps like the one I read about peepingtom?

Thank you very much for you time!

yeah i believe there are a few trojans that can watch webcams, and turn them on/off and what not........make sure you don't get infected, or make sure you clean your computer from virus's/trojans/malware Smiley

So can Flash, if I remember right (there's a setting to let it work with the animation or something... you'll find permissions for it if you choose Settings from the context-sensitive menu in a flash animation... has camera and microphone settings).  I think it's Flash.

Well, anyway, the best thing is to just disconnect the webcam when you're not using it, and plug it in for when you are.  Same for your microphone.

Yeah it's Flash, although the dialogue box is a bit on the tiny side.

Personally, my webcam props up a cooling fan right by the open PC case - never really got into it. And I leave my Microphone switched off (usually by selecting SP/DIF input for recording, rather than mic or line-in). However, if it's a software switch, then software can be used to activate it again...

And we must have a photo of this dapper webcam of yours, MadAxe - which might be tricky if the webcam is the only digital camera you've got there... Grin
