Are we having more problems re: US/Europe servers?

Just tried (several times) to grab today's 28th (2) cumulative from the European server - it reported about 3.6MB or so size, but continually failed at 97%, telling me that LiveUpdate couldn't contact the Internet. Went to the US server and the filesize was a big number that started with a '4' rather than a '3', and the update went through flawlessly. Even having a rough guide to the download size would have helped spot the correct one... Wink

Just checked again - a 4kb or so additional update fromthe US server, but not from the European one (which I checked first). I assume that's 2006-4-28(3).

Ian,

Are you still experiencing problems with the UK server?

I forgot to select it in the LU dialogue box, so today's 100&something KB update came from the US one! Let me fiddle with the update file dates and try again...

The Euro server seems fine now - the total cumulative delivered from there was 4020240 bytes, exactly the same as the US server. Looking at the filelist, it seems like it was one of the smaller.trf's that was at fault:

Okay,  glad to hear it working as it should be now.

I tried the UK server from my USA location and it worked too.  Cheesy

Re: the FAQ - all I did was delete everything except LiveUpdate.ini from the RuleFiles folder (otherwise LU doesn't know which servers to call). LU then went off and collected all the updates again.

However, I can see that this only forces a file update, not a refresh of the trf's and suchlike in memory. For the purposes of this server test, that's fine. If I had other issues (such as THG not loading correctly, or TH Scanner crashing when loading the rules), the method mentioned in the FAQ would apply since it removes any memory-resident copies as well.

Another anomaly - right now, I updated using the Euro server and got a small-ish 211KB update. I went to the US one and received the full 4.1MB update...
