Live Update.exe file not found?

I just d/l ver. 4.5 , bought lic and installed using auth code in email. I get a window saying my files are 2 weeks+ old and to update. When I click ok to update - i get a window saying my Live Update.exe not found?

Why is this? Can anyone give me link to fix this problem?

Check your firewall and see if LiveUpdate is being blocked. This is a new LiveUpdate in a different folder so your firewall must be made aware of it.

Outpost does not show it blocked. I made special ruleset to allow TH but still nothing. LiveUpdate.exe not found. What can i do to fix it?

Uninstall and reinstall?

Yes, fully uninstall and get rid of older versions of TH as well. Be sure to install using an account with full administrative privileges.

when i tried to uninstall TH 4.5 file folder did not go away. I tried to move it to recycle it said rules was write protected or disc in use: access denied. So i renamed folder and installed new TH. I tried again to run live update and it is not found. So i repeat process again- renaming folder reinstalling still nothing. I even used regedit to get rid of TH references.

You said that it is not in the same root folder as TH.exe? You are right when it says Live Update.exe can not be found it says it should be in tools subfolder.

Please any ideas are welcomed. I can not fully uninstall TH i think this is the problem.

Please try this:

1. �Right click on the THGuard icon in the lower right Systray and select �settings from the menu.

2. �Uncheck all the options on THGuard.

3. �Click on OK to save the settings and close the settings window.

4. �Reboot your computer. �THGuard should NOT start up.

5. �Using Add/Remove Programs in your Control Panel, uninstall TrojanHunter. �

6. �Reboot your computer again.

7. �Using Windows Explorer or START-SEARCH-FOR Files And Folders, do a Search for �TrojanHunter

8. �Remove any FOLDERS that are TrojanHunter.

9. �Remove that folder that you renamed as well.

10. �Close down all programs in your lower right Systray except your firewall. �Disable your AV.

11. �Install TrojanHunter V4.5, Build 922. �By default, it should all be in C:\Program Files\TrojanHunter 4.5.

12. Be sure to install your License.tlf

13. �IF LiveUpdate is still not operational, Try this little test to determine if it is in fact Outpost that is blocking LiveUpdate:

a. �Enable Windows Firewall

b. �Disable Outpost Firewall

c. �Run LiveUpdate.

Also, I'm not an Outpost guru, but I understand there is an Allow list in Outpost. You should be sure that LiveUpdate is added to this list.

I have tried everything that you suggested, even going back into my registry and trying to delete the entries by hand.

I am unable to gain access to the RulesFiles: Access denied.
Make sure that the disk is not full or write protected and that the file is not currently in use.

I even tried to get rid of it by using gutmann method for encrypting. Unable to do that even. Something has this folder active and protected. Now i have many copies of this on my computer and none can be deleted.

How do i free up an empty RulesFile?

I am the only account on this computer and I have full admin rights. I even just changed my pw as well. I am running Win XP sp1

Outpost has everything in the trusted app section and even with Outpost off I still have same problem. I am running Kaspersky AV and have it off too right now. I can send logs if you want them, just tell me the prog you want them run with.
