Sorry...  I've been searching for this but, I'm just not finding it, so I appologize, as it has more than likely been discussed before... (any redirection towards a solution would be great)
 
 
This has been a LONG STANDING issue for me...  At 8:15 every night, when Live Update runs automatically as scheduled...  A "Minimized" window (only the size of a windows's title), will remain on the screen untill manually closed...   It doesn't seen to actually update (although, if it does, I can't verify it, unless I run Live Update manually...)
 
I've been meaning to solve this for some time...  But every time I set down to do it, I get sidetracked onto something else...  (Always putting out "fires"...)
 
Any Ideas...??    Huh
 
WinXP has been clean installed several time over the last year or so... (Same problem)
 
Any info you need, is yours...

On my XP-SP2 system, I've had this randomly occur if some other program has focus at the time LiveUpdate runs.  For example, if I have IE open or some other program's window open, LiveUpdate's minimized window will stay in the task tray until I close it or the window that has focus.  A running screen saver causes it too...randomly...but it does occur.
 
In the Task Scheduler for LiveUpdate, a status is shown for the last run of LiveUpdate.
 
0x2 = LiveUpdate successfully ran, but did not find any new update.
0x3 = LiveUpdate successfully ran and downloaded a new update.
