Double updates

I have noticed that TrojanHunter 4.2 Build 908 for some reason is trying to run two automatic updates. I have checked the Scheduled tasks and the old form of update that I had created is disabled.

It appears that I am the only one that has experienced this since it has been a week and not one reply. What about the lenght of time that it takes to actually do the automatic update? Mine seems to take several minutes to check.

pcguy99,

Do you happen to have 2 THGuard.exe in memory for some reason?

What is the difference in time between the first update and the second update attempt that you are seeing or are they happening at the same time?

The length of time that it takes for the update to complete is obviously dependent on your internet connection speed-- among other things.  My 3 mbit cable connection downloads the update in about 5-7 seconds.

Do you have the update server closest to your physical location selected and the "pick random site" unchecked?

Since my inital post the double occurence showed up 3 to 5 times and I have not noticed it since. With respect to the amount of time it takes it is hard to give an exact time since downloading the update takes longer than to simply check the status. I too have a 3Mbit connection but mine takes probably close to 1 minute to download an actual update. Just checking whether there is an update takes approx 20 secs.

There are only 1 thguard.exe in memory. When they were occurring they were at the same time.

Have you looked at your CPU utilization time in the Task Manager (performance tab) to see if some program is hogging a lot of % CPU?

My Windows XP-SP2 with a P4 2.6 ghertz normally sits at 0% with cycles up to 5-8% every few seconds depending on what is going on.  Obviously if LiveUpdate is activated, it will spike to 95+%.  A "check" happens normally in 1-2 seconds.
