There is a synchronization problem between the USA server and the European.  Both issue the latest updates, but in a different order.  So when you switch from server to server, they are getting confused and you get a new download.

Does this mean you are still getting a new update each time to run LiveUpdate?  Even if you stay on the same server every time.

Hello siliconman,
 
I was able to manually move the latest update and to get it to work correctly, I still get the error if I pick random servers but also fixed that problem too. Thanks for the help.

This should be fixed now. I beat the UK server into submission with a couple of lines of Java so the dates should now all be correct  Wink

It's kind of misleading since the trf file is getting moved but not the Updatelist.txt file. The trf file was moved from the temp directory but *not* the Updatelist.txt file. When I moved it manually to replace the one in the Rulefiles directory and then opened the Scanner it showed that it was up to date (3-26-06). So, it appears that the Updatelist.txt file not being moved is causing the problem.

I don't think the problem has yet been fixed concerning LiveUpdate for Windows 98, 98se and Windows ME.  
 
What Magnus fixed on the servers was to stop the servers from redownloading when switching between servers.  (I think).
 
I have emailed Magnus asking for clarification.   Huh

I just tried an experiment.  Both the US and European Servers indicated that I have the most recent updates.  This was not the case before as I was getting repetitive downloads of the Cumulative update from the European Server.
 
I run XP SP2 by the way.

Unzip to your RuleFiles folder. Thats all Smiley
 
This is a TEMPORARY option, I don't know what Magnus will do in future for manual updates if it will be needed, but this is for the Win9x users Smiley

Are you on Windows 98 or Windows ME?  If so, we are still waiting for a fix from Magnus concerning LiveUpdate.
 
If you are not on 98 or Windows ME, then:
 
Are you using the latest Build 918 of V4.5?
 
I had this problem on the first Build 916 release, but it appeared to be corrected by installing Build 918.  
 
At any rate, if you install TH V4.5 again right over the top of your current installation, this should fix this problem.  Be sure to unload THGuard.exe first.
