License upgrading to Vista-compatible TH

Can someone tell me what the position is if I license
the current non-compatible-with-Vista version of TH, and then want to use the upgraded TH on my Vista machine.

Having spent hours perusing the forums pertinent to TH, I have become almost pararanoid about PC security especially as I have just started using a broadband internet connection and already have been infected and had to reformat my HDs and re-install XP. All this with me thinking BitDefender V10 and STOPZilla were protecting my PC!

In case anyone is wondering, I also started a topic "where the hell is....", for which I offer my sincerest apologies for such an assinine introduction to TH and this great forum. Embarassed

Once you are licensed, the upgrade/update + support for TH are free.  There is an annual subscription fee after the first year after you first license TH.  This permits you to continue to get upgrades/updates/definition rulesets.   You can just port it onto your Vista system when the Vista version is issued.

I recommend that you also consider adding a hardware firewall/router to your new cable modem system such as a Linksys BEFSX41....even if you are just a single computer.  The security gurus over at the www.dslreports.com forum can provide you a lot of assistance for determining the proper router for your system.  It will be a major step forward in your war on the cybercriminals...and for less than $100.

I wouldn't leave home without it...a router, that is.  Wink

Thank you, siliconman01.

I have noted that a few people on this forum talk about routers and it was the next subject I intended to enquire about. I presume that, strictly speaking, here is not the appropriate topic to enquire about it? Don't want to get into bad habits! Smiley

I think you will find a wider expertise base concerning routers on the DSLReports forum.  They even have forum sections broken down by hardware brand once you get to the point of making that decision.  Wink
