TrojanHunter didn't respect lifetime contract

AngryTrojanHunter changed policy and didn't respect the lifetime contract. You just broke the contract simply. This is not fair for the customer who bought it believing this was lifetime edition software. When I bought last year I read your contract and purchased the software as a lifetime edition because I believied what I read. I am very disapointed with you. This was a shame! you should obey the contract for the customer whom bought the lifetime edition. You could change the new policy for the new customers not for the old ones! What do you give me? one year updating. I read the post that you states that I will be able to manually update, But you have breached your original contract with me and you have now reneged on the manual updates. You should refund me back because I didn't agree with your new policy.  I thought this was a serious company.I purchased TrojanHunter when I bought it and It was very clear to me as LIFETIME EDITION with updating. I didn't buy the AT Scanner without the autoupdating. Thus, I got a lifetime of updates for a costful price then not only the software without updating or only manual updating! You have to get another solution for the old contracts. I am very angry at your company. I am quite sure about it. I am a lawyer and you have to keep what you guaranteed and promissed in the past when the buyer purchased the software. When you sold me your trojanhunter lifetime I choose it because this said lifetime edition and all updating included but not manual updating. I am looking forward to hear from you for a better solution. I read very clearly your contract for trojanhunter lifetime edition. I am still alive and yet my lifetime of updates has expired. THIS IS A SHAME! A VERY UNSATISFIED CUSTOMER!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 Hi,

Since we released version 1 of TrojanHunter we've had the policy of
"no subscription charges currently, but we may introduce a small
charge in the future". Because of the extremely high costs
associated with analyzing trojans and releasing new detection
updates daily we made the decision to introduce such a charge
 recently (see http://forum.misec.net/board/Announcements/1138629799).

Currently, a 2-year subscription costs less than a new license ($31)
and a 1-year subscription is $19 (both USD). You can still update
 manually even without a subscription.

I hope this answers your questions; if not, or if you have any
further questions, don't hesitate to get back to us! “

Hi,

If you get a refund, will you be happy to not have the program any more ? A refund means you must remove the program and can only use it if purchasing a license under the current scheme - which without a license will cost more as its a new license purchase Huh

Would you prefer less updates and no charge ?

I think neither is preferable !

Or would you prefer TrojanHunter 4.5 in its current state, and the soon to come 4.6 which will give me the ability to detect trojans in a whole new (very effective) way ?

I understand the hope of lifetime updates, but have not seen the license agreement. I do not believe it says "definitely lifetime updates" and more likely the fine print usually says vendor can terminate software license at any time. Software is a commodity like NO other when it comes to licensing agreements. Software vendors license use of a software, not ownership.

P.S. - Magnus never agreed to hire me either, nor did he promise to add many of the improvements that are already in the program nor many which we've got planned to come !

Just food for thought Cheesy

Please also think in the shoes of any software vendor, you must license software in a certain way. The only way is to try to give the best overall outcome for the entire user base of thousands. Thats very very hard to do !

Magnus is taking a short but well deserved break, but I'll let him know to contact you. I do suggest you send him an email to his personal address immediately and just go from there. He will contact you within 48 hours.

Angry
such comparison is a nonsense. you are not selling shoes. You sold me an AT scanner with the updatiing included not manual updates. Please no excuses. you have breached your original contract with me and you have now reneged on the manual updates.Only accomplish the contract. When I bought your product I read very clearly lifetime and I paid you for it. Perhaps you consider lifetime one year. Again Its is another disapointment! In terms of contract if you mention lifetime is lifetime. I mean human race whom lives about 80 years old. Where talking to relationship customer and vendors. Please remember the customer must be respected and is the most important part of the company!

Lips Sealed
At least your support@misec.net (perhaps Magnus) already replied to me with some solution and apology for the meantime.
Quotation:
"I understand that you are upset if you thought we had promised a
lifetime license. We have however had a written policy since 2003 on the
web page saying that "there are currently no subscription fees but we
may introduce a small charge in the future".

However, I do understand that this it not the impression you got. I have
sent you a new license file that is valid for another 10 months. The
email says "Thanks for purchasing ..." - you can ignore that since it's
just the standard letter.

I hope this makes you feel somewhat better about the situation. I
apologize that we weren't more clear about the fact that there was no
guarantee about a lifetime license - the costs to maintain the trojan
database are very high though which is why we had to do this."
