Install?

I'm about to give up.
 
1. Paid for the renewel.
 
2. Recieved verification.
 
3. Opened license.tlf  
 
4. Recieved message license was installed.
 
5. Open TrojanHunter and it tells me I have to renew.
 
6. Copy and paste license.tlf into TrojanHunter folder.
 
7. Open TrojanHunter and get message I need to renew.
 
8. Open InstallLicense.exe and copy authorization code.
 
9. Recieve message that license file was successfully installed.
 
10. Open TrojanHunter and still get message that license has expired.
 
11. Uninstall and reinstall TrojanHunter.
 
12. Go through steps 1-11 and still get message that license has expired.
 
13. Completely and totally aggrevated and ready to demand money back.
 
Any suggestions. I've been a faithful user since TrojanHunter was introduced but this I don't need.

Sorry that you are having trouble installing the license.tlf file.
 
What Windows OS are you using?
 
Do you have TH V4.5, Build 922 installed?  
 
Have you removed all other versions of TH from your harddrive?  No other TH folder other than C:\Program Files\TrojanHunter 4.5?  
 
Are you installing under a user account with full administrative privileges?
 
Also, go to the link below and have a new license.tlf file sent.  Perhaps the one you have got messed up on the date or something.

Does rebooting after you install the license.tlf help?

I have this exact same problem & emailed support a couple hours ago.
 
This all started with me needing to renew before I could update last night. So, I selected to go renew & I did pay the $49 for another year. Got the thank you / order acknowledgement and the new license emails almost immediately.
 
The numerous steps I took are pretty much the same as the OP of this thread.
 
I'm WinXP SP2 home edition, fully patched.
 
I've been using TH a long time and trust we can get this sorted out, but I'll agree it's been most frustrating today.

Were you already a licensed user of TH?  In other words, had you paid $49 for a license previous to yesterday.  If so, you paid too much for your license extension.  You should have clicked on "I am a returning customer" and paid only $12 for a 1 year extension or $16 for a 2-year extension.   You should contact Magnus at  sales<at>misec.net (<at>=@) and seek a partial refund.  
 
I have sent Magnus an email to intercede on the problem with your license installation.  It sounds like maybe there is a problem that only he can correct.  I assume you are using V4.5, Build 922.

Yes, I've been a licensed user at least 2 yrs, maybe more. Seems I've always paid the full amount, tho.
 
The page came up with returning user pre-checked. There are asterisks by the extended year/s choices, but no additional info supplied. Thought maybe it was only optional with the current $49 purchase.

I went back and copied my authorization code from 2003 and used it instead of the one that was sent when I renewed earlier today.
 
I guess I should have read all the options when I renewed. I'll contact Magnus for a partial refund.

I doubt I have any record of that authorization still. New PC since then, and lost all of my old email records from a corrupt file in my Outlook Express awhile back.

I'm not 100% sure I used the same email account.
 
My name is definitely the same, so hopefully someone from support will email me something to make it work.
 
At any rate, I did uninstall it finally, deleted the remnant 3.6, 4.2 and the 4.5 TH version folders and requested another new license.tlf, which seems to be the same as the one I initially received.
 
Treat me as a new user, I don't care. Just need to get this working.

Yes, that's correct.. and when I try to update now, it is still popping up my subscription has expired and I must renew to gain access to latest versions, updates, etc & offers to open the same page where I renewed the first time it did this yesterday.
 
If you review the original poster's list of what he did, I pretty much tried all that myself... in about the same order.
 
Wish I had that original file he found, perhaps it was a mistake to delete those old folders. However, I've had that be a necessary step to get a new version to work properly with other programs. In the future I'll send them to a compressed file or relocate them.. not delete. Sadly, I always purge my recycle bin, too.
 
The good news is.. I paid for a whole brand new version.. which means we should be able to get me updating soon! Smiley
 
hmm.. I just opened TH scanner, it appears to be working ok, except it says its been over 2 weeks since I updated, which must be the new version. Also, I notice on the TH spalsh screen it says site license for 2 users. I'm the only one in my household and on this PC, is that normal?

Can you run a LiveUpdate from TH Scanner?  Be sure to select the server that is closest to your home location (USA or UK).  
 
Using TH scanner, go to HELP and About.  When does it say your subscription expires?
 
It sounds like Mischel recognized your original license when you applied for the license yesterday.  So it is now saying you bought two licenses... thus a 2 user license.
