New subscription not updating license time

I purchased TH in 2003 and today I upgraded to version 4.5.  
 
After uninstalling, installing the new version etc. I installed the temporary license. After making sure everything worked OK and running a scan, I purchased the two year discounted subscription from the web site.
 
The e-mail back from sales@misec.net indicated that I was now subscribed till  May 1, 2008. However the authorization code I received is the same as the one I downloaded earlier in the day and installed for version 4.5.  I also ran the new license installer but the information in about Trojan Hunter still shows the same expiration date of 06-05-01.

I could uninstall th 4.5 and reinstall but I don't think this would fix anything as the authorization code is the same [/b]
 
I e-mailed support, already about this but am posting here also as this may be of interesst to others who might have this problem.

yes, they sent you the same license and the same registration code.. you did not need to try to reinstall the same license..  
 
maybe the license is not properly installed if the expiration date is showing as 2006-05-01.. mine is showing as "2008-05-01"..
 
the license, the "TLF" file, would not install for me.. i had to use the authorization code routine.. i even tried it a second time, getting a second "TLF" file and reinstalling TH, but it still would not work for me..

I had the same problem with the License.tlf file sent to me, too - couldn't get that sucker to work for anything - as far as I can remember, every time I tried to execute it, I kept getting a message that said that there wasn't anything associated with that kind of file to use to open it.
 
Used the online registration and it worked fine (including the correct amount of time).  
 
I was going to send you a screenshot of that message, but when I re-opened the email just now and clicked on the attachment, it worked like a charm. I don't get it, but it's been one of those kinds of days since I got up.   Grin

I uninstalled v4.5 rebooted, deleted all the old files, etc., reboted and reinstalled v.5. Rebooted, I then installed the license by double clicking on the tlf file, it ran but was not installed.  
 
I then cut and pasted it from the e-mail, closed TH, opened and reset TH Guard. After rebooting TH showed the correct date of 2008-05-01.
 
Since the installer for the license validates over the Web, I suspect the problem was that I needed to reinstall to get the license to update over the Web. If this is true, then there needs to be a way to "re-validate" the license over the web without reinstalling.

i did not get a message like that.. with me, i got a message saying that the license was installed when, actually, it wasn't..

It seems the problem is that its associated, but not doing what it SHOULD.  
 
The .TLF file should have a little icon like the InstallLicense.exe one, but on a white background ? This means it is associated.  
 
I thought it would just need to copy the file to your TH folder, and it's NOT DOING THAT Grin so therein lies the problem.
 
So you can just do it manually, and it works fine ?

Yes Gavin, the license.tlf file is not doing what it should and this needs to be fixed...Apparently a bug. IMHO, it should also overwrite any existing license and reinstall (the same one, or a new one).
 
Uninstalling and then opening TH and copying in the code works as, I assume running installlicense.exe in the TH program folder would also work (and would be easier) as it opens the same window to enter the code and install...

If a license file is already in the TrojanHunter folder you should be getting this message:
 
  "A license file already exists in your TrojanHunter folder. Overwrite it?"
 
Not sure why it's not asking you that at this point. Try deleting the License.tlf file in your TrojanHunter and then double-click the new license you received in the email and see if that works.

Deleted the license.tlf file in the TH 4.5 folder and TH reverted to the unlicensed version. Closed both TH guard and TH and ran the license.tlf file from the e-mail. Tried it both from the e-mail and by saving it to the desktop.  
 
It runs,  and message says license is installed, but when I open TH, it is evaluation version with the message to continue evaluation, install licesse etc.  
 
Pasting in the code adds license info to TH but no date info. If, I then close TH and reopen it shows as licensed with the corect dates.

I've found the problem. I'll be releasing an updated setup file that corrects it. It was omitting a couple of quotes in a registry entry.

Can you explain the process to update TH itself.  
 
Do you have to uninstall, reinstall, etc.?
 
When you mention a new setup file, how is this installed, etc.?
