Internet Password Manager 1.0 Beta 1 Released

I'm proud to announce the release of beta 1 of Internet Password Manager. This easy-to-use, yet powerful and secure password manager will suit all those who need a place to store their online passwords.

Features:

  • No configuration required - simply enter a master password and you're all set and can start entering your passwords
  • All password entries are saved the instant you add or edit them - no need to remember pressing a save button
  • Program resides in system tray for easy access
  • Program locks itself after a timeout to prevent unauthorized persons from accessing your passwords
  • Double-clicking an entry opens the web page for the entry and copies the password to clipboard where it remains for 30 seconds before being securely wiped from memory

Download Beta 1 here:

http://www.misec.net/beta/InternetPasswordManagerBeta1.exe
Replaced by Beta 2, available at
http://www.misec.net/beta/InternetPasswordManagerBeta2.exe
(see post below)

Note: Feel free to test the program as much as you like by adding your passwords, but don't use it as your only place to store the passwords yet as the file format may change before the final release (making you unable to access the passwords).

As usual, please post any and all bug reports and other comments here. Enjoy!

Installed on Vista Home Premium.  When I attempt to enter the Master Password, IPM errors with:

Cannot create file "C:\Users\Administrator\AppData\Roaming\Internet Password Manager\Passwords.dat.tmp".  The system cannot find the specified path.

Am running as a full Administrator with only one account.  UAC is off.

NOTE:  I manually created the Internet Password Manager folder at the proper path and the Master Password was accepted.

When creating a new Password, it errors out with "Cannot find C:\icons\bullet_key.bmp"

Alright, I've uploaded a new version (beta 2), which addresses these two issues. It's available here:

http://www.misec.net/beta/InternetPasswordManagerBeta2.exe

Simply install into the same directory as beta 1 and things should work fine.

Beta 2 installed okay on Vista.

However,

1.  I created a password entry for the TrojanHunter forum.  It opens the website okay, but there is no password on the clipboard to fill in the login user name and password.  I use Ctrl-V to try to paste it in.

OOPS:  I found the option in OPTIONS was not checked to copy the password.  Is it supposed to copy/enter the User Login Name too?

2.  If I right click on the Notification Tray icon, there is:

Test
Test
Test
Exit

What does the Test, Test, Test mean?  They seem to be dead.
