PC is making noises

Hi
When I am on my PC, now and again a noise can be heard (when the speakers are on) that is like a camera being clicked. I am absolutely paranoid that someone has hacked in and taking screenshots of my pc.
Any ideas what this could be? Or am I being a berk?
I have Norton Internet Security that appears to be working fine. I have also recently deleted a program called Pando which I grew suspicious of as Norton kept flagging it up.
Thank you

Chris

Welcome to the forum maddferrett Wink

I suspect the sounds you are hearing are nothing of concern.  You probably have "sounds" enabled in one of your normal third party programs.  If you have MS Office, for example, it will emit sounds during various functions you are doing with it.

When you hear this noise and you are working with a program, check to see if it has sound enable/disable options.  Of course, Windows itself give out a sound every now and again too when certain things occur.  Look in the Control Panel>Sounds to find which features in Windows gives out a sound and you can test them too.

What version of NIS are you running?  NIS 2008 is the most secure and best version of Norton.

You can do a remote scan with Kaspersky to cross check NIS.  The link below is for the Kaspersky remote scanner.  Odds are if it scans clean, you are clean.
