Norton Anti virus and Internet security

What do you think about Norton Anti virus and Internet security software?  My friend used it and said that it slowed down his computer considerably.
 
What are your thoughts on that?   Smiley

I use Norton Internet Security 2007.3 on both Windows XP-SP2 and Vista Home Premium.  NIS 2007 is a significant improvement over previous versions as far as resources and also system performance.  
 
It does slow down booting up the system; HOWEVER, that is because it is scanning for real nasties such as rootkits which can only be detected prior to Windows log on.  The delay time is very minimal in my opinion...15-20 seconds.
