Hiding IP address question

HI. I found this site because of the win32.mersting.b Trojan. Did a search, found this place. Good stuff.

I like to peruse message boards. Most of it is fun but many computer/IT type people like to mess everyone time to time. Now it's me.

I'm a little computer literate, but need some help.

Is there a way to completly hide my IP and address? I just dl Hide IP. Works fine IP, but someone can still trace it to my provider.

This is not for malicious intenet. I just want to be anonymous.

Thanks for any help- Ben

eta-just noticed how big this place is and might not be the right board. Feel free to move it mods. Sorry.

Welcome to the forum, BT   Cheesy

If you do a Google search using the key  hide IP address you will find options as to how to do this.

Here's a fairly long discussion on this:

There are a few ways to hide your IP.  One is the www.anonymizer.com way... their software sets one of their own proxies and then you can browse anonymously... the downside is that many sites know the Anonymizer IP ranges and block them.  Another way is Hide IP as you mentioned, or an even better tool in my opinion, Hide My IP, www.hide-my-ip.com.  Both tools set random public proxy servers to your internet settings for a one time fee.

Another way to browse certian sites is to use a web proxy site. Lots of these web proxies do not support JavaScript. To find these kinds of proxies, just type on google "CGI PROXY" and you might find some sites that let you browse without giving off your real IP address.

Hope this helps!  Wink
