Siliconman01; Many thanks for your reply, and info that you gave. To answer your questions about OS, & versions that I run: I do have/run latest ver. and build of TH. The OS: XP PRO, SP2 & all current critical updates. Security apps: I normally run more security apps than any 2-3 people that you know, tho' I tried to go easy on that this time around, after getting new HD (with PRO as OS installed). After latest PC repairs, re-installing security apps, & updating them was high priority as you may imagine. Internet: still poking along on dial-up connection. =================================== The time or two that Guard was "crippled" after updates I opened Guard to recheck Enabled box as I found that it was unchecked, and no, I didn't do that but found it that way - and that seemed to take care of that. And not sure if I recall this correctly, from the first time that this happened but I think that I found within TH itself, there was an error about where definitions were stored - i.e., where TH was to look for said definitions. I corrected that, of course, and that took care of it. But as to why this happened, at all, is what I wondered about. ============================================ I'm aware that author/s of security apps must put time & effort into creating an app, and updating it (and I for one always apprciate their efforts on our behalf - and sure, it's a business and they can be rewarded for their work if an app serves its purpose). I for one think that we should all pay an annual fee for TH., as we've become accustomed to that business model by now with other apps, and I've written TH's author, saying that he too deserves an annual renewal fee, as it were. After all, after you've sold x number of widgets, after that the work resides in the updates, & perhaps updating the main app itself if/as needed. As I understand it, a program author has to be atop latest threats, find a sample of the latest "black hat" to study it, discover how to counteract it, write antidote for it and then get updates to current customers - that's not an easy thing to do, I should imagine and not to mention, the time involved in such undertakings. And again, I certainly am happy that TH and its author is out there, helping to keep cyberspace a safer place for us all, and I for one wouldn't mind paying yearly fee to help TH, and its author.
