Just a word of caution when evaluating services changes.  Please be careful which ones you disable and place on manual or you will find that certain things "mysteriously" no longer work.  
 
For example if you disable BITS and AutoUpdates, you can no longer manually retrieve updates through
 
http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/default.aspx?ln=en-us
 
Keep a written record of which services you change from the default so that you can go back when you discover something is broken.
